Landvetter Airport Hotel - a Nordic home-away-from-home

The Story

For almost 30 years, Landvetter Airport Hotel has been a second home for flight attendants, tourists and other travellers looking for a soft landing close to the international airport. The hotel, which is owned and run by the Engström family, prides itself on great service and a personal touch, and this, in combination with the handy location, has resulted in the hotel becoming a favourite for international conferences.

The Challenge

The hotel wanted to entice guests out of their lonely rooms and encourage them to spend more time in the public areas – the entrance, lobby, bar and restaurant. Stylt was called in to make these areas as attractive as possible, creating a warm and welcoming feeling that would earn the hotel a place in guest's memories and keep them coming back again and again.

The Solution

While it is true that checking in at an airport hotel is often a necessity rather than a choice, that doesn't t mean that it shouldn't be a great experience! With this in mind Stylt created a home-away-from-home where guests get a chance to escape the sterile, impersonal airport environment to recharge their batteries between work and travel.

The hotel's owners, the Engström family, were the starting point for the concept. Their passion for art, nature, the local Gothenburg area and the sea is reflected throughout the interior. The result is an inspiring eclectic mix where classic designer furniture meet carefully-chosen objects and collections, often picked from among the family’s own belongings.

The Engströms' interest in Nordic design has influenced the style and colour palette, which is dominated by different shades of green and blue. As much as possible is designed and produced in the Nordic countries, which creates an authentic and timeless interior.
