Orangeriet is a lush hothouse merged with a cosy living room feel, serving the fruitiest drinks and nectarous snacks. This is the third project we have completed for the successful F12 group, (Le Rouge and Fjällpuben).
The design brief was to create a colourful, vibrating and humane summer bar that should be as attractive during the winter. The place would be able to transform fromcafé during the day, after work in the afternoon and into a lively bar with a DJs at night, making people forget they were in the middle of the city.
The location is perfect for a café and bar in the summer, but windy, cold and quite desolate “off-season”. The main challenge was to create a place just as attractive, welcoming and warm during the hard Swedish winters. Located in an old stone cutter’s premises on the waterfront in Stockholm, much of the old and a bit rough feeling should be preserved, and the outside and inside would be percieved as one.
In the summer Orangeriet is a lush oasis by the waterfront where the lines between indoors and outdoors are blurred. In the fall the greenery and summer memories are moved into the orangery where they, like all friends, can survive a hard Stockholm winter. Surrounded by old olive and orange trees, figs, date palms, chestnut vine and among the scents of lavender, rosemary and other herbs, guests enjoy cocktails, coffee and light meals.
