The design brief for Orangeriet was to create a colourful, vibrating and generous summer bar, just as attractive during the long and dark Swedish winter months. The place transforms from café during the day, to after work in the afternoon and into a lively bar with DJs at night, making you almost forget that you are in the middle of a city.
Located in an old stone cutter’s premises by the water in the middle of Stockholm, much of the old and a bit rough feeling have been preserved. And just like an orangery, the outside and the inside is perceived as one. During the summer, Orangeriet is a lush oasis by the waterfront where the border between indoors and outdoors are blurred. In the fall, the greenery and memories from the summer move into the orangery where they, like all friends, can survive a long Stockholm winter. Surrounded by old olive and orange trees, figs, date palms, chestnut vine and among the scents of lavender, rosemary and other herbs, this is where you enjoy your cocktail, coffee and a light meal together with your best friends.
