The design concept draws inspiration from the Dutch Golden Age, a period during the 16th and 17th centuries when the Netherlands experienced extraordinary economic, cultural, and political prosperity, marked by religious tolerance and intellectual advancement. This era saw the Dutch Republic emerge as a global power, excelling in trade, science, and the arts.
Since then, wanderlust has been deeply ingrained in Dutch identity. The Dutch were pioneers - exploring the globe by sea, charting the stars through telescopes, and uncovering the microcosm through microscopes. Today, this small but innovative nation continues to lead in fields like technology and sustainability, harnessing wind, waves, and sunlight to create clean, renewable energy. This modern drive reflects the same spirit of intellectual curiosity and exploration, shaping a sustainable future.
Responsible for designing the hotel’s guest rooms and corridors, Stylt’s concept served as a guiding principle, shaping an atmosphere that is both inspiring and inviting. Sustainability played a central role in the project, with many interior elements - such as furniture and lighting - crafted through upcycling. The artwork, designed by Stylt, takes cues from the masterpieces of Dutch Golden Age painters as well as the ingenuity of Dutch scientists.
